Today was amazing! We slept in till 7:00am and got ready in no hurry to spend the day in the park. Norm drove me🥰. First we went to Jackson Hole for an early lunch. On the way I took many pictures and we got to see bison. It was very cloudy/hazy yesterday so the views were just ok. Norm asked God to make it clear today so I could enjoy my “happy place” to the fullest. This is why I keep him around….really support him. It’s a team effort! Anyway for those who don’t know me well the mountains are my happiest place and when God puts water with them it brings me such joy. After a great lunch we started driving the other side of the loop. Amazing stop at Jenny Lake. Pictures don’t do it justice but I tried. We hung around there for a bit meeting a couple from Texas. Our next big stop was the summit of Signal Mountain. More great views, met two guys from Oklahoma who were using binoculars to see bison on the other side of the park. One of them let me borrow his pair. It was pretty cool. The next exciting thing along the drive was an elk just hanging at the side of the road eating. Got a great picture of him. It had gotten up to 90 again so we finished the loop and took a break. Had dinner at the Lodge and met a family from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Had a great talk with the dad and one of the kids about their trip and Norms adventure. After dinner Norm indulged me and we drove the loop again part way. Didn’t get to see a sunset with clouds and storm coming in. But we did get to see the Bison crossing the road in front of us twice. It was fun to watch them play fighting and the young babies close up. It was a fabulous day and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Norm and I decided to switch places on the blog site😁

Today was a different perspective.  We’re changing places. It was a day off for me.  I spent my time behind the wheel of a car driving Miss Daisy. Oh, I mean Lisa Marie. Both Lisa Marie and I needed some time to just explore the beautiful Grand Teton national Park.  I found it much easier to enjoy the scenery at the slow moving pace of my bike.   When you’re driving, it’s a hard to look around because of the narrow roads and the traffic.  I think Lisa Marie enjoyed herself while I was driving.  We drove south and stopped at numerous overlooks to take pictures of the mountains, the lakes, and fields. We even came across a large herd of buffalo right up next to the road. This was to the delight of many onlookers.  Heading south into Jackson Hole we meandered through town which was crazy busy.  We had a nice leisurely lunch at the base of the Snow King ski mountain.  We could see people taking the gondola to the top. We saw several people biking and walking the traversing trails about an eighth of the way up.  It had been almost 20 years since I last visited Jackson Hole with my family.  My how it has grown and changed.  After lunch we continued to travel through the park completing a loop and seeing more incredible scenery.  We saw cyclists biking through the park on road and e-bikes.  Some of the roads had great bike trails along side, but unfortunately the main road that I’ll be riding out of the park toward the Yellowstone has one of the narrowest shoulders I’ve seen in quite some time.  The road went past Jenny Lake where there was a fabulous outlook. There was a hiking trail all the way around the lake. Not a chance I was doing that today. We saw a lone Elk eating by the roadside and stopped by the Jackson Dam. Mid-afternoon We decided to get out of the hot sun and take a break and do some planning for the next few days.  We had a fun dinner in a diner/grill inside the lodge. From there Lisa Marie wanted to take another drive hoping to spot some more wildlife. Once again we came upon the herd of Buffalo but this time they decided to run from both sides of the road creating a nice little traffic jam and some great photo ops. We drove for a little bit hoping to catch a glimpse of a sunset behind the mountains but there was a rainstorm moving in that dampened the effects. It was a great day just relaxing and reversing roles. Tomorrow it’ll be back on the bike and heading into Yellowstone.
